8 May 2008 Local independent agency cleans up globally in 2008 international awards shows
The Jupiter Drawing Room (SA) & Partners, South Africa’s largest independent agency group, has set a blistering pace in three of the world’s premier international advertising shows.
In a clean sweep it topped the SA table at the prestigious Clios, the One Show and the UK’s D&AD awards.
Four companies in The Jupiter Drawing Room (SA) & Partners family played a key role in a performance that saw it amass a staggering 6 600 creativity points (2 450 points ahead of the next best performing SA agency group).
The strength of the individual agencies in The Jupiter family is clear from the dominance of the Clios individual agency table. The top three best performing South African agencies were DDB (SA), The Jupiter Drawing Room (Jhb) and MetropolitanRepublic/The Jupiter Drawing Room. At The One Show The Jupiter Drawing Room (CT) and DDB (SA) were the two best performing individual agencies.
The Jupiter Drawing Room (Jhb) and (CT) bought home Silver at the One Show, six Bronzes at Clios and an Entry into the D&AD Annual. MetropolitanRepublic/The Jupiter Drawing Room took three Clio Bronzes and two Entries into the D&AD annual and newcomer to the group, DDB (SA) put in an exemplary performance at the One Show and took four Clio Statues, including SA’s only Gold.
Commenting on the performance Group Chairman Graham Warsop said: “critical to the success of agencies today is the need to secure the best creative talent in the market. The results of these three shows are a good indicator of the progress we are making in this regard. We think it perfectly fitting that South Africa’s best performance in international awards comes from a locally born and bred independent agency.”
The SA Creative Circle endorses four international shows: Clios, The One Show, D&AD and Cannes. (Results of the latter come out in June.)
