Sunday Times/Markinor Top Brands 2005 Awards

Some of the world's largest and most recognised brands were expected to feature strongly in the Sunday Times/Markinor Top Brands 2005 Awards, which were handed out recently at an event held in Sandton, Johannesburg. The awards are based on research into which the public think are South Africa's top brands. The research provides an accurate reflection of which brands are known, liked and used, from a representative sample of both urban and rural South Africans in all provinces.

The top 10 rankings this year saw some new entrants feature alongside established big name brands. There were also a few examples of companies which have created significant brand awareness in a short space of time which was partly due to their innovative advertising campaigns.

In response to the results Renee Silverstone, CEO of the Jupiter Drawing Room (Johannesburg) says, "Our clients once again came out tops. Edcon's famous Jet brand was voted best retail fashion brand for the second year running and another of our clients, Discovery Health, was voted first in the medical health category. The entrepreneurship of the business and marketing teams that helped realise these winning rankings is to be especially noted and The Jupiter Drawing Room (Johannesburg) is very proud to work alongside such blue chip companies as Discovery Health and Edcon."
